Why Diesel Generators Are Highly Recommended

The choice to purchase a power generator for home or business is often a very wise one. Not only will it provide security against loss of critical systems during times of natural disasters and interrupted communication ability, but it will also guard against economic loss from having your business idle or hurt by unforeseeable downtime of your regular power source, and it can even provide some perks such as being able to power recreational activities like a swimming pool, hot tub or lit sports field in places where connecting to the main grid wouldn’t be as economically feasible. In looking for what type of generator to choose, many manufacturers recommend diesel generators for a variety of reasons.

Diesel generators are mechanically simpler than other generator types, plus the fuel itself serves as a lubricant to reduce wear and tear on moving parts, unlike petrol which do the opposite. This means a diesel generator has a longer life span and requires less repair and maintenance to keep running at optimal performance than other options. Maintenance for a diesel generator pretty much just boils down to regular changing of the oil, oil filter, air filter and fuel filter every few hundred hours of operation, and, properly taken care of, the generator can last for decades. While the price of diesel may seem higher at the pump, it is a more efficient fuel than regular petrol, and will go much further to make it the more cost effective choice in actual practice. In short, the same reasons for choosing to purchase a power generator in the first place — to provide and maintain physical security and financial viability — are also what make diesel generators in particular the better choice of all the alternatives.
